What You Should Know
What behaviors should I not ignore?
Look for patterns—not isolated behavior.
• Withdrawal from family, friends, or activities
• Noticeable mood changes
• Changes in sleep or appetite
• Decline in school performance
• Increased secrecy or isolation
• Risk-taking or shutting down
If it’s inconsistent to their norms, it matters.
Who do you work with?
Children ages 5–18 navigating behavioral, emotional, academic, or system-related challenges.
Is my situation serious enough to reach out?
If you’re asking the question, it’s worth a conversation. You don’t need a crisis. Early patterns are easier to address than established ones.
What is happening when my child can’t regulate?
Behavior is a signal. It often reflects a gap in emotional regulation, coping skills, or tolerance for stress. Without those skills, expectations feel like pressure—and behavior escalates. CENTERPOINT builds those skills while holding clear expectations.
What if I don’t know what my child needs?
That’s common. When things don’t make sense or feel bigger than expected, it’s time for clarity. CENTERPOINT identifies what is happening, what is missing, and what needs to happen next.
What if my child doesn’t think anything is wrong?
That’s common. Work often starts with the parents—creating structure and consistency. As that shifts,
engagement with the youth follows.
Do you work alone?
Your child and you remain the center of the process. CENTERPOINT leads the work and coordinates with others as needed.
This may include schools, therapists, providers, or placements.
Do you collaborate with current providers?
Yes. Consistency across environments is critical. CENTERPOINT works alongside existing supports to maintain alignment.
What if my child refuses to engage?
Most kids feel that way at first. CENTERPOINT meets youth where they are. Initial engagement often includes one-on-one time to build trust and create a working relationship. Resistance is not a barrier—it’s a starting point.
Will my child feel like they are being “sent” to you?
Most kids do. CENTERPOINT is comfortable working from that starting point. Engagement is built through consistency, presence, and a direct approach.
Do you help with school related issues?
Yes. This includes behavior, communication, and coordination to ensure expectations and support are aligned.
Do you work directly with my child?
Direct work with your child is a required part of the process. Effective and sustainable outcomes require active involvement from both you and your child, with involvement determined by your family’s situation and guided by your needs.
Do you help with legal or court related situations?
Yes. With over 20 years of experience in Youth Court—as a Probation Officer and Chief Probation Officer—CENTERPOINT provides skilled guidance navigating the juvenile justice system.
Can you help if my child needs a higher level of care?
Yes. CENTERPOINT provides guidance through evaluation and placement, and remains involved during and after to support long-term stability.
What if we’ve tried everything and nothing has worked?
That’s often when families reach out. When prior approaches haven’t worked, it usually means the underlying issues haven’t been fully identified or aligned. CENTERPOINT focuses on what is actually driving the situation.

WHEN THINGS FEEL CHAOTIC
Families do not always come to CENTERPOINT knowing exactly what support they need. Sometimes they are facing important decisions. Sometimes communication has become more difficult. Sometimes they simply recognize that something feels out of balance and want guidance before small concerns become larger ones.
At CENTERPOINT, we help families gain clarity, strengthen communication, and move forward with greater confidence. Through thoughtful guidance, coordinated support, and practical strategies, we help families identify priorities, make informed decisions, and stay focused on what matters most.
While services, schools, providers, and support systems all play important roles, CENTERPOINT believes the most important relationship in a child's life is the relationship they have with their parents. When that connection is strong, communication becomes more open, trust grows, and families are better equipped to navigate challenges together. Our focus is helping families strengthen those relationships while building the stability, support, and confidence needed to move forward.
